Transforming Education with Creative Learning

For years our education system has forced students to memorize subjects and not to learn them. Blame it to the age-old education style or lack of vision with the system. The learning in school is mostly about memorizing facts. The students who can answer facts correctly are considered to be smarter. The reason for the development of such effects and its implications are mostly not taken into consideration by the majority of the schools.

Learning the facts cannot be considered completely bad. It is crucial too, but it is more important to implement the right way of learning. In a fast-changing world where communication has turned the whole world into one small village, it is imperative that education system adopts creative learning methodology. The students must be encouraged to think logically and challenge the answers and the ways to reach them. The schools must increase the spotlight on creative learning methods and must nurture an environment where students can learn how to solve problems, prepare for exams, handle exam stress and identify patterns. The students, along with memorizing facts must also learn how to process this information and come to the right conclusion.

Creative Learning Methodology:

There are various initiatives which are taking place all over the globe to transform the education system. Some of the major initiatives are:

1. Active Learning: Active learning methods encourage the involvement of students in the learning process. This dynamic learning challenges the traditional mode of learning, where students passively participant in the learning process. Active learning typically involves students working together on a topic in the class but also doing some tasks individually. The benefits of using these strategies are many, which includes improved interpersonal skills and low chances of failure.
2. Community Learning: Since the inception of learning, students are suppressed and asked to keep quiet in the class. Most of the times, this develops a sense of fear in students, and they always hesitate to ask questions and clear their doubts. Even in later stages of education, these students are reluctant to opt for coaching institutes just because they are not comfortable in a group study environment. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Educators, teachers, parents, and the government should together create an environment where students don’t fear to take risks, make mistakes, and learn from them.
6. Connecting Dots: Teaching students with real-world experiments makes sure that creativity is permeated in learning. Teachers must try to bring a real-world example to explain concepts from a textbook. For instance, if you want to teach students about a plant’s life cycle, bring gardening to the classroom. It is easy to integrate into your kindergarten, elementary, or middle school classrooms.
