AHL is about studying the SL subjects in depth. Students who want to pursue chemistry in their university program are advised to opt for IB HL Chemistry. The external assessment of chemistry consists of three written papers.
- Paper 1: 30 (SL) & 40 (HL) multiple-choice questions.
- Paper 2: Short-answer questions and extended response questions on the core (and AHL topics at HL level)
- Paper 3: It has 2 sections; Section A and Section B. Section A contain 1 data-based question and several short answer questions on the experimental work. Section B contains short-answer and extended-response questions from each of the four options.
