How to study long hours without getting tired?

We tend to plan our study schedule, minimize our leisure time, manage our activities, try and do everything that we can to make sure that we excel in our tests. One commonality that is seen in almost every student in this situation is that they opt for long-hour study routines. Some are naturally good at it, while others slowly adapt themselves to be good at it.

But some struggle heavily when it comes to long-hour study. The truth of the matter is that it is really not that difficult. It’s all about using certain tricks and tips to make the whole process easier.

7 Effective Tips to Increase Concentration While Studying for Long Hours

If you happen to be one of those who we just referred to, then you have landed yourself at the right place since we are here to help you out by getting you acquainted with some highly effective tips for studying long hours with concentration. It may seem overwhelming at the start, but the following tips will help you get used to the process of long-hour study.

Be Well Rested

Probably the biggest mistake that students make while studying for long hours is by skipping their rest period. This is because if you don’t allow your body and mind to take rest, then none of the stuff that you study and learn will register in your brain and they will eventually drain out from your mind.

Your brain needs to stay well-rested so that it can produce new cells. So, make sure that you get eight hours of sleep every night. Besides, take a 20-minute nap sometime in the afternoon during your study hours. It will give your brain the boost it needs.

Find that Sweet Spot

Everyone has a specific time during the day when their mind and body are at their best. So, you need to identify which time of the day works for you the best. It can be anytime in the dawn, morning, noon, afternoon, dusk, evening, night, or even midnight. Keep this sweet spot for learning the most difficult chapter.

This will help you in increasing the chances of learning and understanding better since your brain will register everything easily and quickly. However, for those who prefer midnight, make sure you are well-rested during the daytime or evening. Without proper rest and suitable time to study, you might face other health challenges including dizziness and digestion problems.

Resort to Yoga

Yoga is the ultimate fitness regime that ensures the well-being of your body, mind, and soul. Try and perform Yoga first thing in the morning to give yourself the boost that you need for the long hour of study that you would be doing.

You don’t necessarily have to perform those high-end Yoga poses. Simple beginner Yoga would suffice. Make sure you include meditation as part of your Yoga regime as it will also improve your concentration abilities.

Organize Yourself

Even the best of the students would perform poorly if they are put in a situation where their lesson plans are unorganized.

Therefore, make a lesson plan at the end of the week that you would follow the next week. This includes allotting the number of hours for each subject. Within that subject, you need to allot how many hours you will dedicate to each chapter. There is no hard and fast rules to set the specific time limit. And you can obviously tweak them a bit while in the actual moment. They are just there to help you have a framework in mind so that you don’t go rogue.

This linear process will keep your mind sorted and will enhance your concentration abilities. Therefore, learn how to manage your time in the best possible way.

Say No to Clutter

In continuation of the previous point, don’t keep your organizational skills limited to lesson plans only. Aesthetic beauty plays a huge role in sharpening your concentration during your long-hour study routine.

Make your study table and by extension your room clean and clear. Keep your books and stationery products organized. Let some fresh air and sunshine enter your room. Remove everything that seems clutter to you. It would help you in not getting distracted and you can objectively pay attention to your lessons. In essence, it will create an aura of positive vibes which will help you to be your best self while studying.

Eliminate Distractions

In the era that we live in now, it is extremely easy to get distracted. We all suffer from it. But what should we do about it?

Well, you are going to have to chuck it off completely.  Don’t worry, we aren’t asking you to throw away your gadgets and social media presence altogether. We are simply asking you to not check your phones and computer while studying for any notification or new messages.

Just switch off your internet while studying and if you have to use the internet for studying, online classes, or something else, you can simply turn off the ‘push notification’ for your WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and other similar apps. You have to control the urge for checking your phone every five minutes for new social media updates. It often happens that you think you will only check one post and then you can’t stop yourself from scrolling down all your feeds and suddenly you find that you have wasted two hours.

After your study hour is finished, then go through your social media for an hour or so. But until then, avoid it.

Write it Out

Write about what you are learning. This is a great way to polish your concentration. It will also add variation to your study routine and keep it more dynamic.

You can be your own teacher. After you learn a chapter, make a questionnaire, and allot a specific time to answer that. You will end up realizing what you remember and what you have missed. It will also prepare you better as to how to handle the next chapter since you will know how to approach it based on your past experience with the previous chapter. Try to learn study techniques like Vedic Maths that will save your time and sharpen your intelligence.

At the end of the day, don’t overexert yourself. Study hard, yet keep your expectations realistic. If you try too hard to become an over-achiever, it will take a toll on your mental health. So, stay healthy, study with your heart, and do your best.
